Sensex starts on a cautious note; Nifty50 tests 8,850; Axis Bank down 2% --- By Investoresearch

The market has opened flat. The Sensex is down 21.82 points at 28751.31, and the Nifty down 11.15 points at 8856.30. About 763 shares have advanced, 466 shares declined, and 88 shares are unchanged. \

                                               
L&T, Reliance, M&M, Dr Reddy's and Sun Pharma are top gainers while Axis Bank, Infosys, Bharti, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp are losers in the Sensex.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 30 paise at 66.96 per dollar on Friday against previous close of 66.66.

The 30-share index was trading 51 points lower or 0.18 per cent at 28,722. It touched a high of 28,825.09 and a low of 28,714.93 in morning trade. 


The Nifty50 was trading at 8,849 down 20 points or 0.2 per cent. It touched a high of 8,885.20 and a low of 8,847.40 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.12 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.21 per cent higher. 

Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.57 per cent), L&T (up 0.4 per cent), RIL (up 0.34 per cent), Sun Pharma (up 0.27 per cent), and TCS (up 0.27 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers. 

Axis Bank (down 1.6 per cent), Infosys (down 0.7 per cent), Lupin (down 0.7 per cent), and Hero MotoCorp (down 0.30 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
