Sensex ends 144 points down, Nifty settles below 8,530; ICICI Bank, NTPC gain

                   
 The BSE Sensex closed 143.63 points down at 27,529.97 on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters. Nifty closed 63 points down at 8,520.40. Among the 51-components in Nifty index, 44 stocks ended the day in green with ICICI Bank jumped the most — 7.18 per cent, followed by NTPC (2 per cent), ONGC (up 0.81 per cent), HUL (up 0.74 per cent) and State Bank of India (up 0.34 per cent). On the other hand, Zee Entertainment, Idea Cellular, Tech Mahindra, Ambuja Cement and Mahindra & Mahindra declined 5.60 per cent, 3.35 per cent, 3.08 per cent, 3.06 per cent and 3.03 per cent, respectively. Rupee was trading 12 paise down at 66.84 at the time of market closing.

Nifty hits 8600 but soon slips into red; ICICI, Infosys, SBI up -- 17 Oct 2016

                                       
The market opened higher Monday but soon run out of breath. After touching 8600 briefly, the Nifty is down 1.25 points at 8582.15 and the Sensex is up 15.52 points at 27689.12.


ICICI Bank, NTPC, Infosys, SBI and GAIL are top gainers while Reliance, Bajaj Auto, TCS and HDFC are losers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee opened lower by 10 paise at 66.80 per dollar versus 66.70 Friday.

Sensex, Nifty open in green; TCS, Infosys, HUL early losers --- 14 Oct 2016

The market has opened in green on Friday after massive cuts yesterday. The Sensex is up 56.65 points or 0.2 percent at 27699.76 and the Nifty is up 20.65 points or 0.2 percent at 8594.00. About 353 shares have advanced, 102 shares declined, and 23 shares are unchanged. 

HUL, Infosys and HUL are losers while BHEL, Reliance, ONGC, Maruti and Tata Steel are gainers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee has bounced back, opening at 66.84 a dollar, higher by 9 paise compared with 66.93 a dollar in previous session.

The 30-share index was trading 25 points higher or 0.09 per cent at 27,668. It touched a high of 27,712.79 and a low of 27,658.88 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 8,583 up 10 points or 0.11 per cent. It touched a high of 8,596.05 and a low of 8,572.95 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.38 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.47 per cent higher. 

GAIL (up 1.06 per cent), RIL (up 0.97 per cent), L&T (up 0.79 per cent), and ONGC (up 0.7 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers. 

HUL (down 0.76 per cent), Lupin (0.7 per cent), Infosys (down 0.67 per cent), HDFC Bank (down 0.4 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.24 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Nifty ends below 8600, Sensex sheds 439 pts; HDFC, RIL fall 3-4%

Sensex loses over 100pts, Nifty in red; TCS down 1%, Cipla up 2% == 13 Oct 2016

                                 
The market has opened lower after two days of holiday. The Sensex is down 107.86 points or 0.4 percent at 27974.48, and the Nifty is down 37.85 points or 0.4 percent at 8670.95. About 259 shares have advanced, 245 shares declined, and 54 shares are unchanged.

Cipla, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto, ONGC and Dr Reddy's Labs are top gainers while TCS, Tata Motors, M&M, Bharti and Reliance are losers in the Sensex. 

The Indian rupee slipped in the early trade. It has opened lower by 30 paise at 66.83 per dollar versus 66.53 Monday.

The 30-share index was trading 240 points higher or 0.86 per cent at 27,842. It touched a high of 28,42.62 and a low of 27,815.32 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 8,638 down 70 points or 0.80 per cent. It touched a high of 8,681.55 and a low of 8,626.60 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was down 0.59 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.45 per cent lower. 

Cipla (up 2.5 per cent), InfosysBSE 1.03 % (up 0.8 per cent), ONGC (up 0.4 per cent), and Asian Paints (up 0.2 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers.

Weekly Review: Rising Indo-Pak tension spooks market, Sensex plunges 802 points; FIIs remain net buyers - 1 Oct 2016

                                         
The 30-share Sensex slipped 802.26 points, or 2.80 per cent to 27865.96 for the week ended September 30 from 28668.22 on September 23. On similar lines, the 50-share NSE Nifty index plunged 220.40 points, or 2.50 per cent to 8831.55 from 8611.15 during the same period.
Among the top losers in the Nifty 50 index, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd tumbled the most — 7.80 per cent for the week ended September 30, followed by Tech Mahindra (down 7.47 per cent), Adani Ports (down 7.12 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 6.95 per cent) and Cipla (down 5.21 per cent). On the other hand, ZEE Entertainment, Aurobindo Pharma and YES Bank advanced 3.99 per cent, 1.88 per cent and 1.88 per cent, respectively, and stood among top weekly gainers in the Nifty pack.
Sectorwise, the BSE Power index, Realty index, Capital Goods and FMCG index dipped by 3.83 per cent, 3.73 per cent, 3.55 per cent, 3.26 per cent and 3.11 per cent, respectively, during the week. Other sectoral indices all ended the week with losses.

Nifty starts October series above 8600; Sensex, Midcap volatile -- 30 Sep 2016

Nifty ends tad below 8750,Sensex in green; Tata Steel, Bharti up -- 28 Sep 2016

                               
The market has ended in green. The Sensex was up 69.11 points or 0.2 percent at 28292.81, and the Nifty closed up 38.75 points or 0.4 percebt at 8745.15. About 1622 shares have advanced, 1030 shares declined, and 222 shares are unchanged. Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, SBI, Adani Ports and BHEL were top gainers while Reliance, Coal India, HUL, Sun Pharma and Wipro were losers in the Sensex.

Nifty opens above 8700, Sensex flat; Adani Ports, ONGC gain -- 28 Sep 2016

The market has made a flat opening with the Sensex up 49.91 points or 0.2 percent at 28273.61. The Nifty is up 6.25 points at 8712.65. About 180 shares have advanced, 58 shares declined, and 15 shares are unchanged. 

                                   
Adani Ports, ONGC, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp and GAIL are top gainers in the Sensex. Among losers are HDFC, Lupin, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma and Infosys.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 4 paise at 66.44 per dollar on Wednesday versus previous close of 66.48.

Sensex rallies over 100 points:

BSE Sensex is trading at 28,415 up 120 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,749 up 26 points. Asian markets are trading mixed. Shanghai Composite and Nikkei 225 are trading marginally higher while Nikkei 225 slipped 0.33%FIPB approved 11 proposals entailing foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow of over Rs 2,300 crore. Among the proposals cleared, Sharekhan Ltd would attract foreign investment of Rs 2,060 crore.
